Leonard Hoyt was a gifted pianist who spent a lifetime bringing people together through music — at the keys of a piano, surrounded by family, or performing for audiences across Massachusetts. The Leonard P. Hoyt Memorial Scholarship was created by his family to honor that legacy by recognizing musical talent and hard work in young musicians, and encouraging them to keep sharing their own gift of music with others.
Music ran through everything Lenny did — as a performer, a teacher of sorts, and the heart of every family gathering.
A gifted pianist from an early age, Lenny performed at venues across Massachusetts, including the Andover Inn and Bear Hill Country Club. His curiosity about his craft led him to build a piano tuning and repair business, bringing the same precision to tuning as he did to performing.
But it was at home, surrounded by family, that his music meant the most. Whenever the family gathered, it was only a matter of time before Lenny would sit at the piano and draw everyone into singing and playing together — a tradition that lives on through his children and grandchildren today.
Each year, the scholarship helps a young musician continue developing their talent — carrying Lenny's love of music forward.
“It is our hope that this scholarship not only recognizes your musical talent and hard work but also encourages you to continue sharing your own gift of music with others. Music has the power to bring people together, create lifelong memories, and inspire future generations — just as my Uncle Len did throughout his life.”
Your gift helps us continue Lenny's legacy by supporting young musicians who share his passion and dedication.
